Put a Spring in your Step

What an amazing time of year!! The birds are singing and performing amazing aerobatics while they go about their daily business of building their nests, in preparation for their big Spring event.  🐣
There’s also a noticeable lengthening to the evenings, and if this isn’t enough to put a “Spring in your step” there is always Easter to look forward to….And what could be more exciting than spending the long weekend Easter Crafting!!
So, to help you on your way, here are a few ideas for all you budding crafters….

First up I have absolutely fallen in love with this crochet "Rita the Rabbit" Bunny Mod from Lalylala.  This rabbit is very simple, but what makes it exquisite is the cross stitch detail. If you are not confident in your cross stitch ability it is equally stunning without.

Alternatively, why not mix it up a bit with some different colours from our fantastic range of Rico Essentials Cotton.

Sticking with our theme of rabbits, have a look at this fab bunny tote from Pat…

Potty about Harry

Well another month gone, and isn’t time flying, like a ‘Nimbus 2000’.  While thinking about the blog for this month, and with ideas for Halloween witches and wizards whirling around my head, I decided to focus on my new favourite topic, Harry Potter.
Can you believe it’s been twenty years since the release of the first book?!  It’s amazing some have never read these magical books, while others are just discovering them.
Anyway, it’s time to get ‘Sirius’, so here is my pick of the best Harry Potter crafts around.

Whether you are a hard working ‘Hufflepuff’ or a brave ‘Gryffindor’, you will absolutely love this Hogwarts School Crest cross stitch pattern from Little mojo.
This is sure to be a talking point at all your future feasts.

Slytherin has to be my favourite house, and what better way to show your true colours than with a crocheted house scarf…

Oh, I do like to be beside the seaside!

We’re a little late this month, as we were having a whale of a time preparing for and partaking in the Clogherhead Seafood Rocks festival last weekend. The sun turned up, as did lots of enthusiastic kids, who made a multitude of pompoms and bracelets at our workshops.
Anyway, they say happiness comes in waves, and we were very happy crafting these great seaside inspired projects…so much so, we thought we wouldn't be shellfish and would share them here so you could try them too!

We really enjoyed making these adorable fish for the festival, a great wee project to get the kids involved with. Here are the steps we followed to create them:

Using calico and the pattern below, cut two pieces for each fish. These can be any size, simply resize the image.

Next, hand sew around the outer edge, leaving a gap for stuffing

Then, stuff the fish with toy stuffing and sew closed

Paint the fish with white acrylic paint

We found empty wine bottles perfect for holding the fishes tails while we waited…

Fly me to the moon...

...Let me play among the stars…
Here at the Crafty fox, we’re obsessed with all things astronomical this month.  ‘Why?’ I hear you ask...well, on the 20th July 1969, humans first walked on the moon, and we thought we’d celebrate this great achievement by bringing you some space crafts (pun definitely intended).
So, below we are on our final countdown of top space-related ideas for you to try. And to keep you on course, why not sing along with our Space Age playlist while you craft?

The makings of a Fox !!!!

It's that time of year again........The design of the Christmas Window is always an exciting and challenging time for Mr. Fox and co. This year he has decided to step out of the limelight (or should we say spotlight?) as he and Mrs. Fox have their hands full with the little ones. They arrived on the scene as a young, happy couple in the Summer of 2013, graced our window in December 2013 in their delightful woodland home, and again the following year with their young and playful cubs.....aaaah

This years window? We hope it will be a lovely surprise, can't say more than that as we are all sworn to secrecy, but all will be revealed this weekend!
Did you wonder how we made our fantastic Mr Fox ?

Well it started like this,  we wanted an extra special window for our opening (our official opening that is, which was two years after we opened!).
A lot of planning and time went into this window display. We wanted a woodland theme so we went on a mission to find the perfect tree and set a…

It's All About the DRESS!

We fell in love with a picture…yes a picture of THIS gorgeous Summer dress….

It conjured up so many lovely, nostalgic memories of carefree, sunny summers.  The retro style dress made with the quirky cotton fabric was stunning….we immediately ordered the pattern and the fabric.
The pattern arrived first and in our haste we decided to make the dress with some other lovely fabric which we felt would do it justice and look good in our window display for the town’s annual Maritime Festival….

The pattern used for this dress is Buttericks B5603 Misses Dress.

Unfortunately we have sold out of this fabric but we do have the sunglasses fabric on the original dress and a pretty pink flamingo one too!

You can purchase this at: riley blake sunglasses fabric
